Catholic Group Blasts Vatican
Yet another group of Catholics, this time a Catholic body representing 22,000 priests, nuns and religious brothers in Canada, have openly defied the Vatican on the teachings of Jesus Christ. First we have 55 American Catholic politicians issue a 'statement' adhering only to 'mans conscience' in defiance of the teachings of Jesus Christ, then we have 19 Quebec priests openly questioning these same teachings. Followed this up by censuring of orthodox clergy and the sponsoring of heterodoxical teachings of liberal clergy in the archdiocese of Minneapolis-St. Paul we, as Catholics who struggle to follow the church's teachings of Jesus, wonder why the Vatican remains silent on such issues?
By an act of omission, we silently agree to the louder voices that make these claims. This makes silence a part of the problem within our faith. "Omission" is here taken to be the failure to do something we can and need to do. If this happens advertently and freely a sin is committed. In this time of globalization, actions by these Canadian clerics is openly mocking the Catholic Church in public, and it reaches all the world instantaneously!
The toothlessly worded response by the USCCB in regard to the 55 American Catholic politicians statement was an open endorsement of their actions. Even when it 'asks' these politicians to discern with a correctly formed conscience and pleading for dialogue, nothing happens. While up in Minnesota Archbishop Harry Flynn openly endorses heterodoxical clergy and censures orthodox clergy. This same Archbishop Flynn is part of the USCCB!
Reaching back into history, a great political thinker of 18th century England, Edmund Burke, quipped this most famous quote, "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing."
Evil is triumphing in the Church, what are we to do?

It's time for them to start their own Church.
Where's Bill???
What are we to do?
Complain -- loudly -- on every blog we can. I'll link to this article shortly.
Kenneth K.,
Thanks. This blog is my own outlet to voice my discontent and frustration that the unorthodox Catholics are staking claim to our own Church in open defiance of the Vatican.
Matt,
I wish it were that simple.
I think it really must start with the liturgy. That was the watershed victory for the heterodox crowd - implanting into millions of Catholic minds the idea that liturgy is what individual communities make it out to be. It compromises our sense of unity.
Along this same line, we *must* re-embrace the Church’s artistic heritage. Great art - be it music, sculpture, or painting - speaks more deeply into the human creature than any argument.
Cantor,
That is an excellent start Cantor. Unfortunately we have the incompetent and ineffective USCCB handling the liturgy redux.
Small orthodox prayer groups, fellowship groups, Bible study groups, etc are one way to combat the evil inspired that Archbishop's Mahoney and Flynn.
