World estimations of the number of terminations carried out each year is somewhere between 20 and 88 million.(likely 55 to 60)
Over 3,500 per day / Over 1.3 million per year in America alone.
50% of that 1.3 million claimed failed birth control was to blame.
A further 48% had failed to use any birth control at all.
And 2% had medical reasons.
That means a staggering 98% may have been avoided had an effective birth control been used.
I am a 98% pro-lifer, 2% Pro-choicer, who has no religious convictions at all . I didn't need the fear of god or anything else to come to my decision, just a good sense of what is right and wrong.
You see we were all once a fetus. Is it beyond the realm of possibilities that when your mother first learned she was carrying you, she may have considered her options? What if she had decided to terminate? Would that have been OK?
You would not exist, if you have children they would not exist, and your (husband or wife) would be married to someone else. You would have been deprived of all your experiences and memories. In this day and age with terminations being so readily available and so many being carried out, if you make it to full term you can consider yourself lucky.
Lucky you had a mother that made the choice of life for you.
Don't you think they all deserve the same basic human right, LIFE?
At the point of conception is when life began for you. This was the start of your existence. Your own personal big bang. Three weeks after conception heart started to beat. First brain waves recorded at six weeks after conception. Seen sucking thumb at seven weeks after conception.
Though it pains me to say it , there may always be a need for the 2% medical reasons and such, but that's all.
So how do we get the other 98% to be responsible...................
How do we get them to be honest with themselves, about when life begins.
egg+sperm = human being
Sadly many prefer an occasional abortion, over using birth control, they have all kinds of reasons, each of them selfish.
Then there's the christian impossition,(all a bit talibanish), and their men in high places.(church and state should never entwine) their stance against b/c has only added to the numbers.
Sanity must provale, abortions should remain available and safe to the 2% and the rest need to have a good look at themselves and get their act together.
I'd like to see effective birth control made available to all who can't afford it.
I would add TITO as the number one Anti-Christ!
i am baffled that anyone who purports to be a "christian" can label ANYONE who understands the need for medicaid as a socialist. my son is a patient on charity care at md anderson cancer center and the government has been denying him medicaid benefits for over two years, because texas has cleverly tied medicaid to SSI benefits. it's only a matter of time before the hospital is forced to cut off the charity, which would contribute to shortening and ultimately ending my son's life. one of our good friends recently was awarded his SSI and medicaid and died a couple of months later. "right to life" zealots focus exclusively on abortion, without any thought whatsoever about what happens to a child born with handicaps, chronic illness or other disabilities. how can a 20yr old pediatric adult patient who is unable to work or go to school make it to age 25 without medicaid? our public health system is a joke, catering almost exclusively to illegals and the catholic church is the #1 promoter and supporter of illegals. and doctors in america only care about owning luxury cars and boats, taking expensive vacations and glorifying their professional accomplishments with materialistic wordly goods. texas politicians use the religious right to attain power and as long as they remain "pro-life" it does not matter that they are "anti-poor" or "anti-disabled". i'm tired of all this hypocrisy when it comes down to christian values. if you're "pro-life" i challenge you to follow through and be "pro-living". a fetus grows into a baby, and a baby grows into a child. a chronically ill and disabled child will NOT grow into an adult without an established, stable continued base of medical care. pro-life zealots who squawk about "socialists for medicaid" are either 1)not poor 2)have no ill children 3)often have NO children or 4)are so narrow-minded that my message will escape them. i have family members who are catholic pro-life zealots and when i discuss this with them, all i hear is "his suffering is for a purpose" and "at least he had the chance to be born". my son has told me more than once during times of extreme duress and suffering, times when doors were slammed in our faces and doctors abandoned him - that he sometimes wishes he had not been born. to a parent this is the most painful thing you can ever hear your own child say. yet as long as zealots call medicaid supporters like myself "socialists" this may become the lament of chronically ill and disabled children who stagger into adulthood, suffering daily from lack of medical care. OPEN YOUR EYES and ask yourself, what would Jesus do with the medically needy?
and doctors in america only care about owning luxury cars and boats, taking expensive vacations and glorifying their professional accomplishments with materialistic wordly goods.
What a disgusting, ungrateful thing to say about the people who are treating your son without payment. For his sake, I sincerely hope they never read your rant.
Honestly, what kind of craven person attacks the savior of his child, and does so when everyone else in the country is remembering what they're grateful for?
Besides that, your rant was logically inconsistent. You blame the state for not paying for your son's treatment, then you immediately admit that your friend's government help didn't do much to save his life.
i have family members who are catholic pro-life zealots and when i discuss this with them, all i hear is "his suffering is for a purpose" and "at least he had the chance to be born".
Again, the inconsistency is mind-boggling. You complain because they say "at least he had the chance to be born," and then you say it's painful to hear your son wish for the opposite.
To Aus blog:
You support effective birth control for all.
Don't you know that contraception is the door to abortion? To say that abortion is bad and contraception is good is talking out of both sides of your mouth!
Contraception legitimizes the notion that sex for pleasure alone is OK...it legitimizes the notion that you don't have to be open to life when having sex...
THAT MINDSET IS WHY ABORTION EXISTS in the first place (and homosexual activity, rape, incest, extra-marital sex, etc.).
Don't you see that God designed our bodies so that sex is pleasurable (for marital unity) AND procreative AT THE SAME TIME...he did this for a reason. He knows best how it should be. Contracepting thwarts God's design of our bodies.
So-called 'christians' and their 'churches' that approve of contraception but not abortion have not connected the dots..plus they have broken with over 2000 years of Christian morality.
So, my vote for what constitutes the modern-day anti-christ (the destruction of true Christendom) are all of those 'churches' that broke from Holy Mother Church. They set themselves up as their own authority and as such, are not going to submit their will to God...that's why they support contraception, remarriage, etc. and a whole host of perversity.
In the end, Catholic moral teaching will be vindicated.
Ever considered the Office of the Papacy?
I hate when people are convinced they know so much. All of the people on that list mean nothing. The anti-christ will come with the message of peace, he will deceive the most, and you will not know who it is until the prophecy starts to reveal itself. He won't be muslim, as the Islamic religion was set up after Christ. It will be of what was before. Pagan worship, and extreme mysticism. Since Islam is monotheosis like christianity, you can 'X' it out. He will be white, as the most power has been held before: Athens, Byzantine, Rome, Germanic, etc.
It's funny that you listen the political positions: Abortion, gay marriage, etc. Those issues are just there to occupy our minds, destract the billions (both by republicans and democrats: they are the same). You think the anti-christ is going to fumble, and let you know his game before hand. No! Hello, Earth to Earth. Stop letting the wolves lead you blindly into cages.
Christians will band together with Muslims and any other religion to fight for religious freedom after the One World Religion is introduced. Most likely the worship of the earth, and the fowls of the sky(pagan god: Molec) and Mother Earth. Take a look at Al Gore leading the Live Earth Movement. It's a good thing to take care of what God gave us, be good Stuarts, but they are taking advantage of the good in people. Money is the root of all evil.
When the Bible says "Money is the root of all evil." It's greed and the load of other bad associated with it. So we have to understand that money will be what breaks this country and what feeds another source. These moral battles or to keep the sheep occupied while their legs are being numbingly gnawed off. So in the end most will have nothing to stand on.
Other workers of the anti-Christ are eluding most of us now, ie Pres. Bush. He's defended because he so-calls defend Christian morals. That's been his platform forever and the Republican party have been taking advantage of weaknesses by doing whatever they want, and we will give them the power of God. The demonizing of one's great power or position and their people or citizens holding them in godly honor: a 21st century version of the divine right, in which people believed as long as their leader stayed in power it was God's will. Which is the wrong way of thinking. If that was correct then the anti-Christ should be held with praise, b/c it's God's will. Or the terrorists never being caught and attacks breaking out would be God's will. We all have the right of free will, God will not destroy that.
Lastly as the Bible told of false prophets, we must be aware that every politician and preacher is not of God, and shouldn't just be voted or choose based upon their stands on abortion.
The number one problem with most christians in the US, is the can't use their own minds. No thinking for themselves, the pastor has to tell you what to think, how to vote, and etc.
When our Bibles already tell us what to expect and what is coming. It doesn't mean you have to stand back, there's nothing wrong with fighting the world order and the dark forces. Look beyond the obvious, the devil is not stupid, nor is he obvious, he's not half as scared of us as we think, and he will try to kill all of us off to protect his plan. Which will of course fail.
And people will look to God in the last days to escape from this evil. We will have to band forces to fight, with Muslims(which will be almost exterminated) and the Hebrews (not their gov't).
I appreciate your comments though if you could read my preface at the beginning of this posting you would see that I have my own criteria for what an 'anti-christ' is. It isn't the correct criteria, just a name I use to identify those that want to cause us great harm.
I agree with most of what you said, but I will leave it to the Church and God to let it be. It isn't right to speculate what or who the anti-christ is or that of what the Book of Revelation pertains to. We need to stick to the teachings of Jesus and be a witness to the world to prepare for His return.
It's not so much that you missed someone of your list...it's more like your list shows you did not scripture from the Old and New Testament concerning the Anti-Christ. I don't want to write a lengthy reply here, but do read Revelation and the Old Testament prophets who discuss the man of lawlessness. Nikolas Sarkozy and Javier Solana fit the description. I'm not saying either is the Anti-Christ, I'm just giving you expamples of likely candidates. The Anti-Christ is going to be a cunning politican and diplomat. He's going to be a clever orator and it's indicated he will be European. He will initially bring peace and be very well liked. He will also be a military genius and be appointed the head of the EU. You're looking under the wrong rocks because you haven't studied scripture concerning this topic.
I've stated in my opening paragraphs that I am not using the Book of Revelation as a jumping off point.
Regardless, you have excellent points on the possibile anti-Christ. Any one of these two politicians would do well to fit the description of an anti-Christ disguised in sheeps clothing. Possibly Sarkozy more than Solana, since Solana has the charisma of a pile of rocks.
Unfortunately it will be to late when we all figure out who this could be, but in the meantime, speculating is becoming a sport.
The anti-Christ foretold in scripture is Nicolas Sarkozy.
I too have Sarko as my Number one canidate at this time, He doesnt appear evil or dangerous, But he has something. Something a little more then the rest, Its hard to describe. When he goes in to negotiate he gets it done. And thats after the rest have failed. Hes now Single, Has a jewish Father, Who converted to christ, His Grandfather was Jew who converted as well, His mother was a protastant I beleve. So he's not Jewish but maybe half jew. He has patched up the relationship with the US solved the EU constitution crisis, Stared down French Labor, And I think He would be the best choice to solve this palistine Israel problem, And there lie's The Rub. When this Bush Rice push for peace fails, Id vote for Sarkozy to solve this problem. And that is why he is My new number one choice for AC
Except for number 5 and 10, this looks like a list of the leading candidates for the Biblical "King of the South".
The King of the South will do battle with the "man of sin" - a.k.a. anti-Christ - a.k.a. King of the North.
