Peace From Sacrifice And Prayer
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
--John 14:27
Another of my favorite verses from the Holy Bible. I have felt at peace during this past Lent and this quote has been in the back of my head. I was able to find exactly where it is so I can share it with you all.
My sacrificing and prayer has brought me peace. Any time I'm troubled or need assurance, a Hail Mary or a recital of the Rosary brings me back to His peace. Because of the many sacrifices I had done for Lent, in addition to the graces that God has sent me, these prayers bring me back to those times in Lent when I came into peace with Him.

Peace?
Doesn't Joel O$teen preach that God rewards you with money for sacrifice and prayer? Err, okay, just for prayer?
I guess that's the difference between self-help pop psychology and actual religion, eh? :)
Thanks for the good work here. I enjoy the perspective.
Kevin,
Excellent distinction between Catholics and Joel Osteen's bunch.
Joel Osteen has a gift from God and he is using it the best way he knows how. Unfortunately he lacks the grace of Christian knowledge.
The great deposit of faith that many non-Catholics (and even some Catholic priests themselves) fail to learn.
The Catholic Church has almost 2000 years of theology, philosophy, history, art, and music that has developed the Catholic faith.
A homeless man can have the riches of peace and joy in Christ without having to purchase a lottery ticket. St. Francis of Assis gave up everything for God and he led one of the most richest lives imaginable!
Joel Osteen has a shadow of the truth.
The Catholic Church has the whole Truth and if each Catholic would just investigate their faith beyond the Sunday Mass, they would be astonished to this deposit of faith.
Thanks Kevin!
God bless.
