Custos Fidei's New Look... Again!
The changes that I have made over the years to Custos Fidei have mostly come without warning, but at least they were gradual changes, nothing sudden. Changing the header and tweaking sidebars here and there are some of the changes that I have implemented.
Since I have upgraded the The American Catholic website and created two new websites, Gulf Coast Catholic and The Pulpit, I have decided to upgrade Custos Fidei as well. I won't get a URL, but I will mess around with the programming and see what I can do to make it more user friendly.
If any of my loyal readers have any idea, suggestion, and or requests, now is the time to speak your peace.
Just as a friendly reminder since we are on the topic of websites, if you miss your twice daily Catholic news updates here at Custos Fidei, I haven't stopped them, I've just created a brand new website just for them at The Pulpit.
In Jesus, Mary, & Joseph,
Tito

Break
Dear loyal readers,
I am requesting your prayers for my upcoming wedding, which of course means I will not be posting anything until I return from all activities.
Once I return on November 1, this personal blog, Custos Fidei, will revert to a personal blog of my musings on the Catholic faith.
The links of commentary and analysis will be moved to a new Catholic website which will launch on November 28 (the Sunday after Thanksgiving) or earlier. It will be a dedicated website to posting the best commentary, opinion, and analysis in the Catholic web.
It will be very well made, spiffy, and professional looking.
What you've seen these past three weeks, twice daily posts during the weekdays and one daily post on the weekends, here on Custos Fidei will be done on this new website. Included will probably be a daily Catholic television news update, a truncated version of the best Catholic aggregater news links, and a daily top-ten of the most popular posts on the web.
Imagine the Drudge Report combined with RealClearPolitics but exponentially improved in serving you the best in the Catholic web. No tiny type and no quick hits, only well written, in-depth analysis of the currents in the Catholic Church as well as everything else related to the Bride of Christ.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please post them here and tell me what you liked or didn't like or want to see or not see.
The name of this new website will be posted here first to my loyal readers. The URL has already been purchased and the logo is nearing completion. The basic layout of the website has been set and is currently being programmed now (which I'm about a third of the way through).

Changes Coming
Changes are coming as I've been saying for several months to this blog and more.
Thank you for your patience and loyalty.
The first change is that there will be a new website that I am designing, developing, and will soon go online. It will be very similar to Custos Fidei in it's daily news-of-the-day postings. The difference being that they will be daily, not the infrequency that they are here at Custos Fidei.
What I've been doing here at Custos the past couple of years or so is experimenting on what I want to do with this new website.
The new website will be done from scratch and have a new name.
Custos Fidei will revert to being a personal blog of mine where I post from time to time my thoughts on everything (from a Catholic perspective).
Back to this new website. I will reveal the name and Go-Live date hopefully within a few weeks (or days).
Please help me in this endeavor by spreading the word about.
In the meantime, enjoy the last few days of my aggregate news summaries!
In Jesus, Mary, & Joseph,
Tito

Returning October 1st: Tito 2.0
My spiritual life has begun to take center stage in my life at the moment. So much so that I need to cut back on a few things until God's done molding me into the Christian He wants me to be. Which means that I will abstain from blogging, among other things, for the time being and return October 1st.
In the meantime what you all can do instead of reading my blog is to pray for me that I will follow God's will.
If you're still yearning to get your daily dose of Catholic news, analysis, and opinion I would suggest the following fine blogs located at the top left of my blog under the heading, Catholic Commentary: Catholic Report, Creative Minority Report, Pro Ecclesia, Inside Catholic, and The Inside Blog. And if that's still not enough to satisfy your appetite, just follow down on the left side of my blog all the excellent Catholic and news links for your reading pleasure. For my Houston Catholic readers I would suggest reading the list of all the Houston based Catholic and news links on the right hand of my blog.
When I return to my blog I'll continue posting the top 7-12 Catholic news stories of each day 4-7 times a week as I have done in the past. I may even pick up one or two more writers that will contribute original news stories concerning our Catholic faith and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston to my blog.
Just to reiterate, I will return October 1st.
God bless you all.
In Jesus, Mary, & Joseph,
Tito

UPDATED: Bear with me as I spiff up (or more correctly, fix up) my blog. If you are experiencing any problems viewing my blog or if the columns are fluid and not fixed, please tell me (or just messed up). I made the mistake of changing templates without saving the widgets (they're actually saved in text format, but it seems I will have to re-enter the widgets by hand--I'm having difficulty cutting and pasting into my HTML in blogger).
I am probably going to dramatically change the look and feel of the blog, but I will still keep the same format of gathering my favorite postings from various Catholic blogs and the occasional posting myself.
I would like to ask all you programming experts about the format of my header. I've tried a 256 color bmp and a 24 color bmp and I am currently using a GIF format for the header. Are there any suggestions that anyone could provide as to which format would provide a crisp and clear header? I personally like New Liturgical Movement's header because theirs are very clean and crisp, unlike mine.
Also I've been dabbling a bit with WordPress and it's been highly recommended to use instead of blogger, I'd like to know what my fellow readers opinions are on this.
Finally, I want to add a second sidebar but blogger doesn't have a template for it. Does anyone have one I could use? That would be the main reason why I would be switching over to WordPress, among many other minor issues.
Thanks to Kevin Knight over at New Advent for picking up my Pope & Obama posting (and Jay over at Pro Ecclesia), I have had the greatest number of hits in one day ever... 820!
I apologize for my lack of postings these past 10 days, I've been in the middle of some major personal changes and only now is my head coming back down to earth (joyful bliss, thanks Holy Spirit!)
And lastly thank you all for continuing to check my blog even when I have been posting sporadically lately. Any other suggestions would also be gladly accepted to any possible changes (or requests to remain the same) to my blog (thanks Simple Sinner).
I hope that everyone is enjoying their Easter Season!

Back from Hawaii, Blogging, and CF's New Look
Well I'm back from my friends wedding in Lihue, Kauai and catching up with many of my childhood friends. I can't tell you how relaxing and enjoyable it was. It is nice to be back in Houston though, but I miss the extraordinary weather that I just came from.
My blogging will be a little sporadic so bear with me. Congratulations to Matt for his very first posting on my blog. It only took him nine months, but hey, who's counting! Now all we need is for Handmaiden to post her as well to complete the quartet of bloggers. Fidei Defensor has posted some excellent articles thus far, I believe he probably is hunkered down for finals.
So what do you all think of the new look CVSTOS FIDEI? I'm still tinkering around, teaching myself CSS and HTML to really spice up the blog. Any suggestions or comments?
The picture in the middle of my blog title is that of Blessed Miguel Pro, S.J. outstretching his arms before being shot by the firing squad. In his left hand he is holding the Rosary and in his right hand a Crucifix. Moments before being shot he knelt down and prayed. He then stood up and stretched out his arms in the sign of the Cross and said, "May God have mercy on you. May God bless you. Lord, You know that I am innocent. With all my heart I forgive my enemies." Then he yelled out, "Viva Cristo Rey!", which translates to "Long Live Christ the King!". The anti-Catholic regime in Mexico executed a great man, a man of God. The 'Blancos' regime, a liberal and secular government bent on wiping out Christianity in Mexico continued the persecution of Catholics throughout the country. Eventually the 'Blancos' government put down the 'Cristos' uprising and we have the current form of governance in Mexico today.
Many of my relatives were among the Cristos that lost their lives in Mexico and in remembrance of them and to show liberals and secularists that they will never destroy those that follow the Son of God I have put the image of Fr. Miguel Pro in open defiance.
God bless,
Tito
