Watch Out ACLU
The Alliance Defense Fund, or ADF, was created to aggressively defend religious liberty, by defending the right to hear and speak the Truth through strategy, training, funding, and litigation.
"Since its founding in 1994, the Alliance Defense Fund has scored victories in cases involving funding and access for Christian student groups, school vouchers in Ohio, the Boy Scouts' policy of excluding openly homosexual leaders and the San Francisco mayor's decision to allow marriage licenses for gay couples."
"By the group's accounting, it wins three-quarters of the suits it files, though it has lost some high-profile cases as well, including its efforts to order the reinsertion of a feeding tube for Terry Schiavo."
"While some Christian groups have worked to influence legislation, ADF and similar organizations including the American Center for Law and Justice . . . are taking the cultural fight to the judiciary."
The article goes on to explain the ADF's reason for being and a brief history of why they camaboutut.

Vatican Doc on Homosexuals in Seminaries
The unofficial translation by Catholic World News on the discernment of actively practicing homosexuals entering the seminaries has been released. It is titled "Instruction on the Criteria for Vocational Discernment with Regard to Persons with Homosexual Tendencies in View of Their Admission to the Seminary and to Holy Orders". Spokane Bishop William Skylstad is quoted as saying in reference to the Vatican document at "Exercising a Christian Realism".
The Orthodox Warrior on his blog, Antiquus Bellator, has an excellent blog titled, "Attack From Within" written by Sean Patrick Hurly. He offers an indepth analysis of the problems of homosexuality in the priesthood. For his blog posting click here.

The Quotable Chesterton
Non Sum Dignus of The Lair of the Catholic Caveman posted some memorable quotes from the Catholic intellectual G.K. Chesterton.
"If there were no God, there would be no atheists."
"I had to become a Catholic because its the only church that does not see a contradiction between a pint, a pipe and a pew."
"There are those who hate Christianity and call their hatred an all-embracing love for all religions."

Father Corapi On Living The Truth
"What is the sword that Jesus speaks of? It is the truth; the truth is a two-edged sword. Start to live the truth and teach the truth and preach the truth with fidelity and power, then fasten your seatbelt. You are in for it! Your family will reject you, your friends will reject you. You will become the vocal point of a battle, that primordial quintessential battle between good and evil, truth and lies, light and darkness, life and death. We are at war, and our battle is not against flesh and blood."

Educated Women Choose Religious Life
"Growing numbers of educated Italian women are throwing away their high heels and lipstick and opting for the austere life of nuns in closed convents."
"A surprising 550 women in Rome chose to withdraw to cloisters this year compared with 350 two years ago, it emerged at a conference organised by the Vicariate of Rome and Italy's Union of Mother Superiors (Usmi)."
Very interesting to see what I have already known for a short time now. When the options are available to the educated and well to do, more tend to choose a life of Christ rather than that of materialism. It is so important to keep in mind that religion is not soley private and should not be excluded from the public sphere. Keep this in mind the next time someone says "Happy Holidays". Respond by saying "Merry Christmas". It is our culture, our society, our religion that secular society, ie, the ACLU, is trying to secularize.
Merry Christmas!

Saint Gianna Berreta Molla
Saint Gianna is one of the newest saints in the Catholic Church. Pope John Paul II canonized Gianna on May 16, 2004. Saint Gianna led a devotional Catholic life. She practiced her Faith without compromise. She is also the first 'working' mother to be made a saint. What attracts me to Saint Gianna is how she lived her life, even to the very end. You see, Saint Gianna was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst during her fourth pregnancy. Her surgeon recommended an abortion to save her life. Saint Gianna refused and died a week after her childs birth. Saint Gianna cared more for doing right by her unborn child than her own life. Today that child is a doctor and is an active pro-life proponent.

Robert Bork: Slouching Towards Gomorrah
Slouching Towards Gomorrah is a book written in 1996 by Robert Heron Bork. Robert Bork is well known for being the rejected nominee of President Ronald Reagan for the Supreme Court in 1987. What many people don't realize is that Robert Bork recently converted to Catholicism.
This is a natural progression from his own beliefs and moral values. He is an advocate for keeping marriage between a man and a woman is just one example of this Cultural Warrior. With the death of his first wife in 1980, then the writing of his (seminal?) book Slouching Towards Gomorrah, and his marriage to his second wife, a former nun and practicing Catholic, Robert Bork seemed destined to become a Catholic himself. His ever growing apathy towards the moral decay of America led him on a journey that eventually brought him into accord with the Catholic Church. After being hired on as a professor at Ave Maria School of Law by Tom Monaghan in 1999, he converted four years later and came home to the Catholic Church.
Nonetheless, his book, Slouching Towards Gomorrah, is an insightfully and ever more relevant read today as it was in 1996. I rarely recommend books to read that are
not of current affairs, unless of course it is the Bible, but this book and the Clash of Civilizations are two books worth reading. Both are prophetic in being relevant then and now and helps put in perspective what we are up against at home and abroad. But back to the book, Slouching Towards Gomorrah is a great book to read in order to understand the currents of American, for that matter Western, culture and where we are heading.
Rise of the Theocons
50 Babies Survive Abortion Each Year (UK)
"A government agency is launching an inquiry into doctors’ reports that up to 50 babies a year are born alive after botched National Health Service abortions."
"The investigation, by the Confidential Enquiry into Maternal and Child Health (CEMACH), comes amid growing unease among clinicians over a legal ambiguity that could see them being charged with infanticide."
And the "pro-choice" crowd, pro-abortion to Christians, still want us to believe that this is a choice and not a life. We need to pray for the pro-abortion crowd to convert.
The Democratic Party In Crisis
I am troubled by the state of the Democratic Party in America. They have lost their idealism, their purpose, their resolve. The 60s are over, the battle over racism has largely been won. They got Roe v. Wade passed and have innumerable rights for every group imaginable.
What happened? My opinion is that Democrats are largely people of empty amoral lives that need a cause to feel fulfilled. Since they deny the existence of God (I'm generalizing Democrats, I know there are God-fearing Christians, but you guys lost the soul of your party), they feel better about themselves by tearing down others. Thus this explains their vitriol towards President George W. Bush, and any high ranking Republican or celebrity with strong Christian values.
Having been defeated in state after state of promoting homosexual unions as marriage, they have lost their way. Communism having been discredited with the demise of the Soviet Union in 1992 and the inaptitude of Socialism with the collapsing economies of France and Germany in 2004 and 5. The Democrats are in the wrong end of history and they are doing everything possible to bring down the other party, ie, the Republican Party. They have lost their way.
I don't know what will happen, but it is clear that the Democratic Party is guided by the need for power as opposed to serving the American people. When 2008 rolls around it will be interesting how they will sell Senator Hillary Clinton. God help them.

III. I am grateful to God for the power of prayer.
2. Write three ways in which you hope to improve you're relationship with God in this coming liturgical year.

Traitors
I try not to be political though it is difficult when the *Kennedy-Kerry Klan continue to undermine the security of this great nation. I am still not sure if entering Iraq was the right decision in the first place, though, now that we are there, I am flabbergasted by many politicians who continue to sabotage our aim of creating a democratic country in Iraq.

NY Times Anti-Catholic Past (and still today)
1932 Pulitzer Prize winner writer for the New York Times Walter Duranty was a closet communist sympathizer that 'rationalized' the death of millions of Ukrainians during the famine of 1932-33. Duranty is sometimes quoted of saying of the death and misery in the Ukraine during this period as "This is good..." Referring to dictator Joseph Stalins tactit of genocide to rid the eastern Soviet flank of Catholics and Orthodox, thus ensuring communism and atheism being further entrenched against their non-communist neighbors to the east.
Walter Duranty whitewashed Joseph Stalins crimes, thus revealing that the New York Times were then, and still today, very liberal and secular. Duranty, who covered the Soviet Union for the New York Times from 1922 to 1941, ignored Stalin's atrocities, including the famine that killed seven to ten million Ukrainians.
Walter Duranty, who is "credited" for coining the phrase (referring to Stalin's purges) "You can't make an omelet without breaking eggs," said of the famine accusations.
I'd like to get on my soapbox and say that we need to learn our history. Before the liberals revise it to promote their decrepit movement.
Walter Duranty is a sad and pathetic man and the New York Times continues to split hairs and ignore this blatant fact. I used to read the New York Times daily, in fact it was my favorite paper for many years. When I began to be more knowledgeable of facts and current events, ie, doing my own research, listening to talk radio, the internet, and thank goodness, Fox News. I began to notice the liberal leanings of many MSM (mainstream media outlets). This eventually brought a difficult but correct decision of abstaining from reading the New York Times because of their hypocritical news coverage and outrageous promotion of the liberal agenda despite the opposing facts undermining many liberal movements.
