Cohabitation: The False Promise

Cohabitating is the new secular trend that began to show its mainstream attraction these past twenty years. Couples claim it prepares them for marriage, it gives them a 'test drive' to see if they are compatible, and it builds as a new level of commitment prior to taking that final step. Just because everyone is doing it doesn't make it right. Not only that, it is demeaning to women and reduces marriage to a 'sheet of paper' that becomes the last distinguishing factor from cohabitation. Thusly, it becomes easier to demystify sin and lessens the moral wrongs and rights as well as graying that fine line that seperates wrong from right. We must be able to understand and explain why we as Catholics live the life that is becoming increasingly less mainstream. We need to live our lives as a shining example of what is good, right, and correct in living the life that Jesus has shown us how to live.
