Catholic On Catholic Bigotry
Father Thomas J. Euteneuer, president of Human Life International, has accused Senate Democrats of the "Catholic bashing" of Supreme Court nominee Judge Samuel Alito. "The unrelenting campaign waged by many Senate Democrats, some who claim to be Catholics themselves, against Catholic judicial nominees who embrace and practice their Catholic faith is disgraceful at best and at worst is a blatant form of religious bigotry reminiscent of a less civil period of history," said Father Euteneuer.
Another sad page of Catholics bashing Catholics. The list of politicians who claim to be Catholic but do not practice any of the teachings of our Faith as taught to us by Jesus Christ is pretty depressing to think about.
Once you buy into the argument that Faith is ONLY personal and is thus rendered from being practiced sincerely, then you begin to compartmentalize your morality and thus fall into moral relativism.
Senator Joe Biden of Delaware comes immediately to mind. He seems to go through all the rituals of Catholicism but doesn't practice it all in public due to the way he votes. I believe Senator Biden will be leading to the battle against the nomination of Judge Alito. This is truly frustrating to watch this unfold when the hearings for Judge Alito begin. Why do I think Senator Biden will oppose Judge Alito? Because if he rejected that last Catholic nominee who was simply perfect, he will most certainly oppose Judge Alito when there is a visible paper trail of Judge Alito actually practicing his faith by defending life.
