For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life?

Deception, premeditation, ruse, fraud, and a sham. Richard Rich forsake a friend for human respect. Human respect is the first tool that Satan uses to draw men away from God.
God is the final arbitrator for your sins. When St. Michael the Archangel brings you to meet St. Peter at the Gates of Heaven, will your name be shown in the book of life or not?
Will it be worth it?
Hanging around, taking notes, making plans, preparing for worldly riches and respect.
It's superficial and petty.
St. Thomas More is a saint today, and Richard Rich?
...only God knows.
