Da Vinci Code Movie Lifts Opus Dei Membership

In what seems an ironic twist of fate, the blasphemous movie called the Da Vinci Code has actually helped Opus Dei increase their membership. In the film Opus Dei is portrayed as a ruthless ultra-secretive organization dating back to the middle ages. In so many words, it shows Opus Dei in unfairly poor light. Nonetheless it has raised the profile of Opus Dei considerably. Enough so that the number of inquiries being made to Opus Dei have shot up. Even here in Houston, according to the local grapevine, there have been a dramatic increase of hits on the Opus Dei website and a huge flux of personal inquiries here in Houston. Opus Dei, Latin for God's Work, is a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. The goals of the organization is to show the laity that they themselves can attain holiness; this is not reserved for the religious among us. They help guide their members in sanctifying their activities of daily life as an offering to God. They show that we as laity can remain in our own jobs and station in life while attaining holiness. Well, at attempting to attain holiness to be more precise. For the Opus Dei website click here. For the latest news about the Da Vinci Code and Opus Dei click here. Guess what I just read? Several Muslim countries have banned the DaVinci Code like Egypt. Muslim countries! It's not the Christian countries that are offended, but many Muslims are offended of the film's portrayl of Jesus.

And to think that the reasoning behind the liberal sophisticates behind the banning of the word 'Christianity' from the EU constitution would offend Muslims.

Liberals are idiots.

Agreed!

Conde, do you attend a Tridentine Mass? You seem to be very traditional. I also am traditional but have been unable to attend a Tridentine Mass yet. As one thinking of the priesthood, I am looking into the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and the Institute of Christ the King.

Moneybags,

Yes, I attend a Tridentine Mass.

I love the truth and I despise heterodoxy.

God bless.

That's great. I wish more people would attend the Tridentine Mass, but it's just not available to most people. I know that I can't attend one, even though I really want to, because there isn't one in my diocese.

I plan on trying to attend one this summer. I'm very seriously thinking about becoming a priest in a religious order that says the Tridentine Mass. I'll just have to pray and see where I go from there.

The priestly community of St. Peter I have heard many good things about that order. I wish you the best of luck and will pray for your discernment. Being open to both the Tridentine and Novus Ordo is a very good thing. Please try not to stray from the orthodox path of our faith when and if you do celebrate Mass.

Great to hear about your discernment!

Conde now Tito
