Catholicism and China
Catholicism in China has had a mixed bag of success and failures. Only recently has the anonymity between the Bride of Christ and the Red Dragon began to decrease. With the upcoming recognition of the papal nuncio relocation from Taipei to Beijing, it seemed only logical that Mgr. Joseph Zen Ze-kiun has been elevated to that of Cardinal.
Cardinal Zen has been the bishop of Hong Kong for sometime and it seems with this new title he will be prolonging his retirement to take up his new duties. He is proud of his elevation and this seems as a vindication for standing up for orthodox teachings and facing up to Communist crackdowns on parochial grounds.
Christianity has shown signs of great conversions in China itself. The Protestant sects are gaining thousands upon thousands of converts and both the Patriotic Church (state sanctioned Catholic church) and the Underground Church (faithful to the Vatican) have show equally impressive numbers.
Let's continue to pray for the conversion of China.

Have you done or do you know of someone who has done missionary work in China? One of my friends is there now.
Stella
I don't have that information concerning conversions, but you may want to look into reading the Future of Christianity by Philip Jenkins.
Stella,
I don't have friends doing missionary work there, but I do have information eminating from certain friends in China (non-missionary work) that are telling wonderful things about the red dragon.
I was so happy to hear that a Chinese bishop was made cardinal. That is great news. I'll pray for China to finally open up to the Truth of our faith and outlaw their horrendous 1-child per family policy.
Moneybags,
Absolutely, I'll pray with you that Communist China will open up to the Truth.
