Protestants Decline Due to Abortion
Yet another article on the state of mainstream Protestantism's decline in membership. There seems to be a correlation on several levels to the support given to abortion on demand and those Protestant denominations that support them.
One is that the liberal hierarchies of most of these mainstream Protestant denominations clash with their mostly conservative congregations. The issue of abortion is still a hotbutton issue, but due to liberals in control, their church leaders support abortion (on demand).
The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), a much more friendly term for the formally known Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights, was funded by the Playboy Foundation. They claim to have memberships from all ranges, especially the mainstream, (of) Protestant denominations. Yet in fact many years ago every 1 person out of 6 were members of these Protestant denominations, that number is now 1 in 15! The mainstream Protestant denominations represented are the Episcopal Church, United Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the United Church of Christ, and many more such as Reform Judaism, and Conservative Judaism, and "Catholics for a Free Choice" (which does not represent the Catholic Church, but a dissident group that does not have the permission to use the term 'Catholic').
Anyways, event the conservative members are leaving these Pro-Abortion denominations.
The other level that they may be losing membership is through abortion itself. This is a long term problem with no solution in sight. Unless the liberal hierarchy leaves or has a change of heart for the unborn.

One of my best friends is UCC. We were talking religion yesterday, he kept refering to their services as a "Mass," but did say that it was "Diet Catholic," to which I said, half the guilt have the religion!
On Dailykos today there is a big rant about how the religious right has infiltrated and is destroying the "mainline" churhes. In reality they did this to themself.
You will know them by their fruits.
Their fruits are being harvested.
My home island of Kauai is listed as 'other' or is it 'Church of Christ'?
Hard to tell.
